I think you are absolutely right. Starting a business without a partnership is nearly impossible because you will be violating the H1 by working for it.
However, if you go into a partnership, that will be like owning stocks of a company. You don't have to work for it.
But you raise a good point about tax return scrutiny when you go for stamping. They can ask how you were making business income.

EAD has nothing to do with finger printing. People are getting EAD cards even before they go to their scheduled finger printing appointments. You will get your card 10-12 days after finger printing notice.
My wife's finger printing fee was rejected last month, even though we submitted the right fee.
We still submitted the fee again. In the mean while, we got our finger printing notices.
Do u know when we would get our EADs ? Is anyone in a similar situation ?

My 9th year H1-b extension was applied on March 13, and I got the email today from USCIS that the approval notice has been sent. This is a CA ( WAC) case.

Hello Everyone,
Thank you everyone for the responses.
RBharol, My parents did not overstay last time. Even though they have 10 yr multiple entry and 6-month validity on I-94, they stayed only for 3 months. My concern was that my brother who had sponsored their visa is not living in USA anymore and was questioning the validity of their visa.
I had posted this question on other forums and the general consensus has been that my parent�s visa is still valid and should not be a problem. I am trying to talk to a lawyer and will post the response I get.

The sudden backlog reduction efforts by Citizenship and Immigration Services Offices during the past month have resulted in the use of almost 60,000 Employment numbers. Effective Monday July 2, 2007 there will be no further authorizations inresponse to requests for Employment-based preference cases. All numbers available to these categories under the FY-2007 annual numerical limitation
