I went online to check the status of my I-485 and it displayed me the following message
Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On December 19, 2007 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.
What does it mean? Does it mean that I-485 is approved.
Pls guide.

Check with your attorney probably you can appeal to re open your case if you are sure that you have responded to the RFE "on time". Its very much possible.

Same thing with me. My priority date May 3rd, 2006. I got EAD renewal email today.

I'm Aug-2005 EB2-I.
Haven't received my GC yet.
I think, based on various experiences mentioned here, opening a SR, taking local immigration office appointments, etc is a way to get USCIS to look at your file.
I also read, if there was a pending EAD renewal, your case might get looked at and instead of renewing your EAD, USCIS will rather give you GC - provided PD is current and there are no other issues.
I know none of these 2 things have a documented backing...apart from people's experiences (which, I value a lot - don't get me wrong there).
My EAD was also up for renewal - filed in June. Got the "card production ordered" e-mail @ that yesterday. And, no change on the AOS case.
So, should I take other steps @ my AOS case - like, opening a SR, taking IO appointment, etc ?

RFE and NOID come with a color sheet of paper with your details and some USCIS internal codes for your case. You can respond by yourself and put the sheet on top - this is for the mailroom to handle your case

I have used my EAD to join a perm position. I did not inform my employer about it, since he neither paid me while i was out of project,nor retained my health insurance.Although , iam not sure if he has cancelled by I140 or not.
Please let me know what documents are needed to invoke AC21.
I just know the job title on which my PERM was applied .
It was Software Engineer (Systems Software) with MS + 1 Year
And also i do have a copy of the approved I140.
Appreciate your help.

I haven't tried visitor/business visa, but I got a transit visa for Germany once with an expired H1B stamping in passport. I got that visa from German Counsulate in Boston, MA.

ofcourse you can renew your H1B using your pending I485 and you should get 3 years extension. There should not be any problem.
I don't think your revoked I140 will pose any problems as your MTR is accepted.
Filing your H1b and what documents to be included will be taken care by your attorney.

No, you don't have to be employed while in EAD but do remember GC is future job, if have something to show them then you are safe.

1) I-140 can be automatically revoked if the petitioning employer goes out of business.
2) I-140 can be withdrawn by the petitioning employer.
If you do not expect these two events while you are waiting for I-485 approval, there is no need to work.

I was watching an interview with John McCain on larry king live 2 or 3 days ago.
